Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of hospital experience, including NICU experience, for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Reston, VA.
Details
- Respiratory/Cardiopulmonary department within a hospital that includes an Adult ICU (24 beds), newly implemented CVICU (4 beds), PCU, Cath Lab, NICU (24 beds), Trauma, and Medical floors
- Patient caseload of approximately 20–30 patient procedures per RCP per 12-hour shift
- Equipment used includes Servo I, Servo U, 980 ventilators, Radiometer ABL90 ABG analyzers, V60 & Hamilton C1 BiPAP, and ResMed AirCurve 10 home CPAP
- Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- May float to all areas of the department, but not in a charge capacity
- Facility holds CAP & JCAHO accreditation for its ABG Lab
Requirements
- RRT credential required; CRT accepted
- Virginia state license required (if applicable)
- Current certifications required: ACLS, NRP, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of full-time hospital experience in critical care (adult)
- NICU experience required
- Proficiency in ventilator management, emergency airway care, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow therapy, standard aerosolized medications, arterial punctures, A-lines, and 12-lead EKG
- Must have active experience within the last 6 months in the role being applied for
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- Advanced skills preferred include HFOV, NICU patient care, and trauma experience
- Responsibilities include ventilator management, emergency airway care, CPAP/BiPAP therapy, high flow therapy, aerosol medication delivery, arterial punctures, A-line management, and 12-lead EKGs
- Close-knit team with many long-tenured staff members; strong collaboration with critical care physicians and nurses
- Recently expanded NICU services and growing trauma program
- Modern, well-maintained equipment throughout the department
- Caribbean blue scrubs required
