Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) night shift position in Northern Virginia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and active VA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Located on the 2nd floor of a hospital in Northern Virginia, approximately 30 miles outside of Washington, DC
- LDRP unit with 10 labor beds, 13 postpartum beds, and 2 ORs
- Unit is staffed with 4–5 labor RNs and 2 postpartum RNs per shift, supported by an OB scrub tech and lactation consultants
- Level 2 NICU on-site with RN coverage 24/7; 24/7 in-house OB Hospitalist and Neonatology provider
- Patient ratios vary depending on stage of labor
- Equipment includes labor tubs for midwifery patients and a fetal monitoring system
- EMR: Meditech and CPN
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Floating to postpartum as needed
- One to two on-call shifts per month preferred
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics), and fetal monitoring — must be intermediate or advanced AWHONN or NCCEFM (C-EFM)
- All certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Procedures performed on the unit include labor and vaginal deliveries, C-sections, inductions, and OB triage
- The unit has a strong team culture with a focus on collaboration and growth
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri require two references)
