Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at an acute-care hospital in Martinsville, VA, requiring at least 1 year of experience and active Virginia or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 41-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry unit at a 220-bed acute-care hospital
• Patient population includes all ages with common diagnoses including post-op orthopedic procedures and total joint replacements
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift, 7A–7P (note: unit profile also references 7P–7A nights; confirm shift at time of offer)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required as needed
• Floating required as needed, potentially within a 25-mile radius of the facility
• EMR: Meditech
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, Handle with Care, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA-issued certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to exercise decisive judgment with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and adapt to variable scheduling including weekends and holidays
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Permanent address must be 60 or more miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates and eligibility

Additional Information

• Candidates must consent to random drug screening and complete a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form prior to start
• Random drug screens are conducted on-site
• Travelers may not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
• No specific scrub color required; casual wear is not permitted
• Orientation is held bi-weekly on Tuesdays
