Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Trauma/Neuro ICU position in Ventura County, CA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience with both trauma and neuro backgrounds.

Details

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) within a hospital setting
• Patient population spans adolescents through geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Floating required within service line
• Charting system: Cerner (experience required)

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
• Trauma ICU experience required (must be documented in work history)
• Neuro ICU experience required (must be documented in work history)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and TNCC or TCAR
• Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB
• Cerner charting experience required
• Proficiency with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT, shunt and fistula care, and arterial line management
• Experience with central line/PICC line care, port access, and blood product administration
• Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol (e.g., Arctic Sun), and post-neurosurgery management
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal assistance, surgical wounds with drains, and wound vac management
• Experience with GI surgery, chronic/acute renal failure, and procedural/continuous IV sedation administration
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• This unit conducts extensive chart audits — strict adherence to accurate and honest charting is critical
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Travel pairs will not be considered for this position
