Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical - Neuro unit position requiring a MI RN license, at least 2 years of experience, and night shift availability.
Details
- 48-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit within a large academic hospital setting
- Patient population includes neurology and neurosurgery diagnoses such as brain and spinal cord tumors, epilepsy, stroke, cerebral aneurysm, neuropathy, Myasthenia Gravis, head and spinal cord trauma, and neuro oncology
- Unit includes 10 dedicated stroke beds and 10 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds
- Patient ratio is 1:4 on weekdays, nights, and weekends
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00), totaling 36 hours per week
- 5 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating to designated units expected during low census periods
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Prior Med/Surg Neuro or similar acute care nursing experience expected
- 2 supervisory references required for consideration (charge nurse references not accepted)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the past 12 months are not eligible to apply
- Flu vaccination is required (no exemptions accepted, including religious or medical); candidates with a documented allergy must receive the allergy-free flu vaccine option
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront at the time of consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required
