Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring 2 years of recent ED experience and both Kansas and Missouri RN licenses.

Details

• Work in a combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department at a 240-bed community hospital with 32 rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts within a 6-week scheduling period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating may be required to other metro Emergency Departments within the health system
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri (or a Compact license equivalent) must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to float between facilities requires both state licenses
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Pediatric skills required: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, identifying and reporting abuse, infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, and UTIs
• Psychiatric skills required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric hold, and suicidal patient management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Respiratory skills required: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilated patient management
• Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
• Neurological skills required: CVA management
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Professional skills required: isolation precautions, triage, and splint management
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• 2 professional references required: one from a supervisor level or above, and one from a charge RN or above — all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year

• Preferred skills include near drowning (pediatric) and procedural sedation administration
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage required as needed
• Navy scrubs required
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract

• Completion of 10–15 hours of online compliance modules is required prior to the start date
