Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a valid CA RN license, TNCC, and prior Level I Trauma experience.
Details
- High-volume Level I Trauma Emergency Department serving adult and pediatric patients
- Patient population includes trauma, high-volume psych, sepsis, stroke, and homeless patients
- Peds volume averages approximately 1,000 visits/month with an 18–20% admission rate and an overall ED admission rate of approximately 30%
- Travelers may be assigned patients with PCA pumps; staff manage the PCA pumps directly
- Travelers are assigned to all areas except resuscitation room, peds, and triage — no intake/triage assignments
- Areas include Rapid Care, OBS Holding (30–40 patients), Pod A–D (MS Tele/Psych Holding), and ED-ICU
- Hallway patients (MS Tele) may be assigned to travelers in a designated area
- Magnet-designated facility
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Cerner EMR — experience required
- No blocked scheduling or self-scheduling
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- BSN preferred; CPI or MAB preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs
- Cerner EMR experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered with 2 or more years of ER experience
- A pass/fail EKG exam is required (up to 3 attempts permitted)
- Must have at least one supervisory/manager/director reference from the relevant unit within the past year; a second reference within 2 years from a charge nurse, co-worker, or educator is also required
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront — no RTO is permitted within the first 2 weeks of assignment, and RTO cannot be changed once submitted
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction applies
- Travelers with previous employment at this health system should disclose this at the time of consideration for review and approval
