Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring Epic proficiency and a valid GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit serving an adult to geriatric patient population
  • Common diagnoses include post-MI, heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, peripheral vascular disease, and peritoneal dialysis
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on a 16-bed unit running at full census
  • Procedures and skills include telemetry monitoring, EKG interpretation, and Doppler
  • EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • 12-week contract

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
  • Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work 2, and 1 holiday RTO request may be submitted for approval
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
  • No alternate shifts or special scheduling requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
  • Travelers who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must have been away for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time; delays result in a 2-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
