Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult, pediatric, and NICU experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at an acute care Level III trauma facility.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting covering inpatient floors and the ER
- Patient population spans NICU through geriatrics, including ICU, stepdown, med/surg, a small pediatric unit, and a Level III NICU
- No more than 30 treatments per shift; workload is distributed by floor rather than a points system, so caseload may vary
- RT equipment includes Dräger vents, Cervo NICU vent, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, Philips V60, and Philips V30
- Charting via Epic
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage based on unit need
- Self-scheduling; block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not accepted
- Mandatory attendance at one department meeting per month
- First to float; floating covers ICU, general floors, NICU, and ER
- A team lead or charge therapist is always present on shift
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- Experience in adult, pediatric, and NICU settings required; NICU experience is mandatory
- RRT credential via NBRC required
- CRT via NBRC accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and S.T.A.B.L.E.; NRP required for candidates who will work with NICU/neonatal patients
- Active state license required if applicable; pending licensure will not be accepted
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include drawing and analyzing ABGs, breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilator management
- May assist with bedside bronchoscopy and intubation, and may place an LMA; does not perform EKGs
- Experienced travelers may be asked to serve as charge therapist if willing
- Orientation is approximately one week, adjusted based on experience
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of the facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- Any color scrubs are acceptable
