Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac ICU position in Denver, CO, requiring at least 2 years of cardiac critical care experience and active CO or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Located on the 3rd floor of a pediatric hospital in Denver, CO, within a 10-bed Cardiac ICU (CICU) that partners closely with the adjacent PICU
- Serves a congenital cardiac patient population including medical neonates and post-operative cardiac patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Shift hours are 7PM–7AM (night shift)
- Typical procedures include post-op care with inotropic and vasopressor continuous infusions, IVF and chest tube management, care of post-sternotomy/open chest patients, and moderate sedation
- Equipment used includes Philips monitors, Medfusion and Baxter pumps, Centrimag, Prismax, and Arctic Sun
- EMR: Meditech
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac critical care experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Preferred skills include peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and ECMO bedside experience
- This unit serves as the ECMO Center of the hospital, supporting complex congenital cardiac and neonatal patients
- The RN team averages 10 years of nursing experience with a strong culture of safety and commitment to evidence-based practice
- Physician team consists of board-certified pediatric/congenital heart intensivists who collaborate closely with nursing staff
- Travelers will work alongside a multidisciplinary team supporting patients and families through congenital heart care journeys
- First-time travelers are not explicitly noted as eligible; candidates should have a strong critical care background
