Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with scrub abilities for a 13-week surgical nursing assignment requiring an active Idaho or compact RN license and on-call availability for emergency surgical services.
Details
- Operating room (OR) setting at a medical center
- Patient population spans neonate through geriatric across all surgical specialties
- Nurse is expected to perform both circulating RN and scrub RN roles
- Day shift, Monday–Thursday, 9 hrs/day, 36 hrs/week
- Routine scheduled on-call required for emergency surgical services
Requirements
- Active Idaho or compact state RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS required; ACLS required within one year of hire
- Minimum 1 year of surgical/OR nursing experience required; multiple years preferred
- Ability to perform both circulating and scrub RN duties
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
- Basic computer proficiency with Windows-based programs required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities span the full perioperative continuum: pre-op, intra-op, PACU, and post-op
- Duties include patient positioning, prepping and draping, surgical counts, specimen handling, and medication administration
- Expected to communicate continuously with the surgeon and anesthesia provider regarding patient condition and lab/imaging results
- Participates in instrument processing, sterilization, and biological monitoring as needed
- Conducts patient and family education throughout the perioperative experience, including pain management and discharge planning
- Participates in performance improvement activities and supports OR equipment maintenance and inventory
