Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother/Baby (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position in Lexington, KY, requiring a KY or compact RN license and relevant Mother/Baby nursing experience.
Details
- Work in a 42-private-room Mother/Baby unit providing postpartum and newborn care in a hospital setting
- Unit staff includes specialized nurses, newborn assessment nurses, and lactation consultants
- Night shift: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
- Schedule requires 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Schedule includes 2 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule period
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted KY or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Relevant Mother/Baby nursing experience strongly required
- ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
- Must provide MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration

- Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, individualized care planning, patient and family education, and facilitation of admission, transfer, and discharge activities
- Focuses on patient- and family-centered postpartum care, including education, lactation support, and transition home planning
- Care is evidence-based and guided by hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing guidelines
- Collaborates with an inter-professional team including case management and other disciplines to coordinate individualized care
- Participates in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, fall prevention, and documentation auditing
