Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity CVICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

• High-acuity CVICU setting within a 1,266-bed short-term acute care Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, pre-heart transplant, arrhythmias, and ventricular tachycardia
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, temporary venous pacing (TVP) catheter monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella, LVADs, pacemakers, vasoactive drips, central lines, dialysis, and Foley catheters
• Charting performed in Epic
• Night shifts, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license (must be valid and in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses may be accepted — note pending status when applying)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required
• Experience with ventilator management, IABP, Impella, LVADs, PA catheters, and vasoactive drips required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to assignment

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Travelers may stay for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days (approximately 40 hours) per 13-week contract period; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; travelers should contact Public Safety directly for options and availability
