Description
American Traveler is seeking a Medical-Surgical ICU RN with a TX or compact license, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience for a 13-week assignment.
Details
- Work in the Medical-Surgical ICU of a hospital setting
- Day shift, 3x12-hour schedule with block scheduling (7:00 AM–7:00 PM)
- 13-week assignment length
- Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, arterial lines, central lines, and PICC line management
- Skilled in blood product administration and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience caring for ventilated patients, including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- Experience managing chronic and acute renal failure patients
- Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
- GI surgery patient care experience
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Familiarity with IV insulin protocols
- Charge nurse, teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
Additional Information
- Care primarily provided within Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU settings
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- First-time travelers are not typically considered due to the travel experience requirement
