Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring the ability to float across NICU, adult ICU, ED, and pediatric units.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting at a 431-bed Level II Trauma Center
- NICU-based position with required rotation to adult floors, adult ICU/stepdown, emergency department, and pediatric unit
- NICU assignments vary based on patient acuity
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
- On-call required: 3 on-call shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling available at manager's discretion
- Charting via Epic
- Scrub color: Wine
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (ACLS may be pending at start with a 90-day window to obtain)
- CRTT certification required
- VA license required; proof of VA license application submitted alongside another state license (non-national) is acceptable
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizers
- Adult critical care, ER, and community hospital experience required
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies in a neonatal and adult critical care environment
- Perform arterial blood gas draws and analysis, and manage CPAP/BiPAP implementation
- NICU, ED, adult ICU experience preferred; Level II Trauma and pediatric experience also preferred, though experience in all areas is not required
- NRP and RRT credentials preferred
- Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected; if not working, candidate must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
- RTO requests are accommodated at manager's discretion
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
