Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU travel assignment requiring delivery attendance experience, Epic proficiency, and a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Level III NICU setting
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3 in the NICU, with float ratios of 1:4-6 in the Normal Observation Unit (NOU)
• May float to the NOU and normal newborn nursery
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend obligation
• Self-scheduling with holiday coverage required (at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday)
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active LA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience required
• Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator and central line management, and blood administration
• Experience with medication administration via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical, and eye drops/ointments)
• Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending deliveries, assisting with newborn transition, admitting and discharging NICU and NOU patients, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT)
• Parent education, updates, and breastfeeding support are key components of the role
• Procedures include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, CBGs and ABGs, intubation, nitric oxide administration, exchange transfusions, and support during imaging (X-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs)
• Grape/purple scrubs required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
• Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
