Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with urology/nephrology focus for a 13-week day shift contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL.
Details
- Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts per week)
- Located in a Urology/Nephrology Med/Surg unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 patients
- Patient population includes urology and nephrology cases, including renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating is required for all travelers — within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Charting is done in Cerner
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required — pending licensures will not be considered
- Current BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Required setting experience: Med/Surg and MS/Tele
- Required cardiac monitoring skills: telemetry/remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
- Required genitourinary/renal skills: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Required IV/phlebotomy skills: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Required medication experience: Heparin administration
- Required respiratory skills: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
- Required additional skills: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
- Cerner EMR experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract in Springfield, IL
- First-time travelers are welcome, provided they have a solid foundation with 2+ years of Med/Surg RN experience
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement
- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are typically approved; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
