Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, evening shift availability, and active TNCC certification.
Details
- Acute care hospital Emergency Department with 24 beds and 3 trauma bays
- Department sees approximately 80–90 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Fast track and separate triage areas are available; travelers may occasionally perform triage
- ER holds are intermixed within the department and managed by the bedside RN
- No separate psych or seclusion rooms; in-house security is available
- Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions
- Staffed by ED physicians and mid-level providers, with both a charge nurse and house supervisor on duty
- Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters are available on the unit
- Respiratory therapy handles vents, CPAP, BiPap, high flow, ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
- No monitor techs — RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting ECG rhythms
- CT and X-ray are located adjacent to the ED; phlebotomy is performed by techs or RNs
- Charting is done in Paragon EMR
- 12-hour evening shifts, 3:00 PM–3:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating to other qualified units is required
- Self-scheduling available across multiple shift windows (days, nights, 9–9, 11–11, 1–1, 3–3)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC or PALS — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
- Ability to independently read and interpret ECG rhythms
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Navy scrubs are required
- Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
- Candidates who have been directly employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Paragon EMR experience is beneficial given its use in this department
