Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence hospital in North Carolina, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float within a regional healthcare system.
Details
- 40-bed ICU within a 457-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, optiflow, BiPAP, overdose, CRRT, GI bleeds, and trauma cases
- Patient ratios: 1:1–3
- Specialized procedures and equipment include Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and Life Flow
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Phillips; telemetry via hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes multiple facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only); candidates unwilling to float to all listed facilities should not apply
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General ICU skillset required, including critical care drip management (insulin, vasopressors, sedation), invasive line management (arterial lines, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube care, ventilator management, blood product administration, and wound care
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Work history must include hospital name, location, bed count, trauma level, teaching hospital status, and charting system used
Additional Information
- Department support includes CNAs, a 24/7 charge nurse, an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and intensivist 24/7; RNs are responsible for phlebotomy with limited hospital support available
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
- Required scrub color: Navy
- Free designated parking is available on site
- Strong team culture reported on both day and night shifts
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
