Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in Kerrville, TX, requiring at least 1 year of experience and a valid TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a Medical/Surgical unit (2W) at a community hospital in Kerrville, TX — one hour outside San Antonio in Texas Hill Country wine country
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Weekend requirements follow a 4-week rotation with 8 weekend shifts per cycle; candidates must be available for 4 of those 8 shifts (Fri/Sat nights for night shift)
• Floating required to unit 3W and other units as needed
• Charting system experience required (any EMR accepted)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA-issued) required
• ACLS, PALS, and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• 2 supervisor references from within the last 3 years required for consideration
• Nursys verification required

Additional Information

• Patient care responsibilities include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes), IV therapy, blood product administration, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and management of dysrhythmias
• Additional case experience includes bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy care, CBI, CVA, substance withdrawal, heparin and PCA medication management, post-MI, post-angiogram, total joint replacement, and ortho trauma
• Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays
• RTO requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; any approved RTO must be factored into the total contract length
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Facility housing is available
• The facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, including for marijuana — a positive result results in immediate cancellation with no exceptions; candidates should avoid all substances that could produce a positive result, including CBD products, prior to and during the assignment
• Travel pairs are considered on a case-by-case basis
