Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel contract requiring Epic proficiency and at least 1 year of experience, with day shift scheduling and floating expectations across sister facilities.
Details
- Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating between sister facilities within the state is expected and mandatory
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with gastrointestinal care including feeding tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, and bowel obstruction
- Experience managing medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and use of rapid response/code teams
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
- Preferred: Port access/management, blood product administration, MS/Tele experience, and orthopedic/surgical experience
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem/registry), including location and dates
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Travelers are required to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
- Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO may not be approved
- Scrubs/dress code not specified — follow facility guidelines upon onboarding
