Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a 40-bed adult ortho, general surgery, and urology unit, requiring at least one year of nursing experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Works on a 40-bed adult unit specializing in orthopedics, general surgery, and urology
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
• 4 days per week, 48 hours per week
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
• Unit averages 5–10 admissions per day
• On-call requirement of 1 standby shift per 2-week period
• Up to 4 weekend shifts may be required per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required based on staffing needs
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Current NIHSS certification required
• CPI-A certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2+ years of Med/Surg experience highly preferred
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing program required; BSN or MSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Experienced travelers can expect a 3–5 week orientation; new RNs to the system complete a 12–13 week Vizient orientation program
• Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, patient and family education, and discharge planning
• Opportunities for professional growth including charge nurse, preceptor, and clinical ladder advancement
• Drug screening required — candidates should report to the lab within 24 hours of commitment, and background check and drug screen results may take at least 2 weeks to process
