Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a high-volume Level III Perinatal Center, requiring prior travel experience in a large teaching facility and certifications including AWHONN, NRP, and FHM.
Details
- Work setting is a 50-bed women's hospital performing 4,500+ deliveries per year within a large academic teaching institution
- Level III Perinatal Center managing both high-risk maternal/fetal cases and low-intervention deliveries
- L&D nurses are expected to cover antepartum care and OR/PACU as part of the L&D scope
- Patient ratio is 1:3
- Floating is required between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum (including OR)
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, AWHONN, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Prior travel experience in a large teaching institution required
- Experience in a high-volume facility (approximately 300+ deliveries/month) strongly preferred
- Ability to work both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units
- 2 supervisory references required (charge nurse references not accepted)
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities span labor and delivery, antepartum care, postpartum, and OR/PACU coverage
- Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions (religious or medical); candidates with allergies must receive an allergy-free formulation
- Candidates who have been employed by this health system within the past 12 months are not eligible to apply
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted prior to or at the time of initial consideration
