Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 1 year of experience and active NM or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, short-term acute care teaching facility with 554 staffed beds
- Patient ratio is 1:5, with a possible 1:6; hospital regularly operates above 100% capacity
- Floating is expected to other MS/Tele, PCU, and lower acuity settings within scope, as well as to the ED (ED ratio 1:5)
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule, though this may vary by unit
- Charting is performed using Cerner
- No on-call requirements
- Contracts available at 36 or 48 hours per week
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required; NM license may be pending at time of consideration
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required
- IV start proficiency required
- Telemetry monitoring experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Black scrubs required; not provided by the facility
- Parking is available at no cost
- RTO requests exceeding 10 days require facility approval; all scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront
- A 6-month break is required for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached a 1-year mark at this facility, whichever comes first
- COVID vaccination is optional; the facility is required to report vaccine status, so documentation or a signed declination will be needed
- 13-week contract minimum; extensions must be at least 10 weeks
