Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of current CVICU experience and specialized cardiac device competency.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes fresh hearts, ventilated patients, chest tubes and lumbar drains, and chronic/acute renal failure cases
• Patient ratio typically 1:1-2, though ratios may vary with floating
• 13-week assignment on night shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Required to work every other weekend and applicable holidays
• Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units based on skillset
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience with initial CVICU training may be considered
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax, or experience with fresh heart cases required
• Skills required include Post Op Open Heart Recovery, Swan-Ganz, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, and Chest Tubes
• Experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Two current professional references required
• Stroke CEUs and previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to post-cardiac surgery and complex ICU patients, including management of ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive drips
• Skills utilized include cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia management, EVD and lumbar drain care, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and IV insulin protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least one year before being eligible for travel assignments
• All requested time off and schedule accommodations must be approved prior to the start of the assignment, as changes cannot be accommodated once onsite
• Clinicians must be available to work at least 2 of 3 major holidays
