Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI, working weekend shifts with on-call responsibilities.

  • Located in Milwaukee, WI at a 933-bed, Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Interventional Radiology unit staffed 24/7 serving an adult-only patient population
  • General IR procedures include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoracentesis/paracentesis, and CT-supported procedures (biopsies, cryos, drains)
  • Neuro IR procedures include stroke intervention, embolization, DSA, WADA testing, and spinal angiography
  • CT room supported by IR for additional procedures including cryos, CT biopsies, and drains
  • AAA intervention experience preferred
  • Unit averages 40–50 patients per day
  • 12-hour day shifts, Fridays through Sundays, 0700–1930 (36 hrs/week)
  • On-call required: one weekday call shift per week (Mon–Thu), end of shift until 0700 the following morning
  • Weekend call: once every 5th or 6th weekend, end of shift Friday through Monday at 0700
  • Travelers with Neuro IR experience may be asked to take Neuro call; those without will take General IR call only
  • On-call response time: 30 minutes
  • No floating required
  • EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
  • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; imaging PACS: Change Healthcare
  • Siemens and GE imaging equipment (experience preferred); injector: MedRad
  • Additional equipment in use includes IVUS, GE Ultrasound, Laser, Bovie, and Angiojet (experience not required)

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 12 months of IR nursing experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Neuro IR experience required for RN candidates
  • Experience administering procedural sedation required
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • COVID vaccination required
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • RN responsibilities include patient monitoring, sedation administration (when anesthesia is not involved), and charting
  • Unit support includes two coordinators, two lead techs, tech specialists, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, and CNA/transport staff
  • Orientation includes 1–2 weeks with a preceptor and competency check-off
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on-site with badge access
  • No holidays currently required, though this is subject to change (call only if applicable)
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have IR experience
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this position
