Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Care Med/Surg Tele position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

- 32-bed Post Surgical Care unit within a 457-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a designated Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Patient population includes post-surgical cases such as colectomy, colon/small bowel resections, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, thyroidectomy, bariatric surgery, as well as small bowel obstructions, kidney stones, pneumothorax, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, and cellulitis
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
- 12-hour day shifts (0700–1900), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only); candidates unwilling to float to all listed facilities should not apply
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- Equipment includes BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Masimo monitors, and remote telemetry monitoring
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drain management, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth are required for consideration
- Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
Additional Information
- Unit support includes NA+ CNAs (4 per shift), a charge nurse 24/7, 24/7 phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, an IV/VAT team, a resource nurse (as staffing allows), respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and remote telemetry monitoring technicians
- Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; any time off that results in unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
- Required scrub color is navy
