Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission Inpatient Unit) position at a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry interpretation skills and flexibility to float across multiple units.
Details
- Fast-paced Adult Admission Inpatient Unit (AAU) that functions as an ER holding unit, located adjacent to the Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma, children's, and academic teaching hospital
- Unit serves admitted patients transitioning from the ED to inpatient care across all specialties, excluding ICU-level patients
- Patient population is diverse, spanning all specialties except ICU acuity
- 17 beds with up to 8 additional hall beds; nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5
- Floating is required to areas adjacent to the ED for admitted patients, the ICU for sub-acute care (SAC) assignments, and inpatient PCU areas
- No on-call requirements
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Block scheduling will be considered
- Charting is done in Cerner
- 554-bed facility with free parking
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias
- Ability to manage a variety of medical equipment and demonstrate strong time management skills
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include admitting patients from the ED, initiating inpatient standard of care, and facilitating frequent patient transfers to one of 11 progressive care units
- Relief charge nurse duties may be required on an as-needed basis
- Black scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all time-off requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- 13-week contract; new contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
