Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist for an acute care hospital position at a Level 1 trauma, large academic teaching facility, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care experience.

Details

  • Inpatient acute care setting at a large short-term acute care hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
  • Level 1 trauma, academic teaching hospital
  • OT Therapy Services treats patients across cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, medicine, trauma, surgical, and oncology populations
  • Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00–15:30 (start time flexible up to 8:00)
  • One weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required per 4-week period, with a compensatory day off during that week
  • May be utilized across any therapy service line as needed
  • Charting performed in Epic
  • Specialized equipment includes SPH equipment, vital carts, iPad interpreter, and ADL supplies
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Valid OT license required; Missouri state license required at time of consideration (pending Illinois license accepted for IL-licensed candidates)
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
  • Level 1 trauma experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Willingness and ability to work with a variety of patient populations
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Establishes individualized treatment plans and provides treatment with consideration of discharge needs, expected functional outcomes, and appropriate equipment and supplies
  • Educates and collaborates with patients, families, and other healthcare providers, including making referrals to specialists as needed
  • Delegates tasks to OT assistants and techs through written and verbal communication based on required skill level and patient needs
  • Completes documentation in accordance with departmental policies
  • Scrub color: black or grey
  • Parking passes are available for purchase through Public Safety; parking details are provided during orientation
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Former permanent employees of this facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Allied travelers may work up to 12 months before a required 6-month break in service

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything.
