Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with strong PICU/NICU and adult care experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center in Maryland.
Details
- Inpatient hospital setting with a mixed-age respiratory therapy unit spanning NICU, PICU, ER, and adult intensive care/med-surge units
- Patient population includes all age groups — neonatal through adult — with critical care respiratory needs
- Jet high-frequency ventilators in the NICU are frequently in use, with 3–4 running at any given time
- Average daily census of 6–7 ventilated patients with an approximate ratio of 1:12 across 12 beds
- Approximately 40 patient visits per day
- Special equipment includes Maquet Servo i, Draeger V500, Jet Ventilation, Oscillation, and Nitric Oxide
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the specialty, to other units, and to sister facilities within scope
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
Requirements
- Active RRT credential required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT
- Strong PICU/NICU experience required, including Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU
- Experience with all patient age groups (neonatal through adult) is required
- Experience in adult care settings including ER and Level 1 Trauma environments required
- First-time travelers may be considered with a strong PICU/NICU-focused skillset and demonstrated competency across all RRT settings including adult care
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide critical care respiratory therapy across a mixed-age patient population, including neonatal, pediatric, and adult settings
- The department may assign therapists to adult care areas (e.g., ER, med-surge ICUs) based on individual experience and skillset
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Local candidates are considered for this position
