Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience with trach/vent skills and an active MD or Compact RN license.
Details
- NICU unit within a pediatric hospital setting
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, and pediatrics with diagnoses such as prematurity, AOP, ROP, BLD/CLD, cardiac defects, feeding issues, and NAS
- Patient ratio of 1:3, up to 1:4 with lower acuity patient groups
- Utilizes specialized equipment including trach/vents, PICCs/central lines, and TPN/IL
- Alternating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:00 and 19:30-7:30
- 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty and sister units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Meditech charting system experience preferred
- Scrubs of any color or print permitted
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required (non-negotiable)
- Experience with pediatric trach/vent patients required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- CPI certification required
- ACLS preferred (AHA only)
- NRP or AAP certification accepted
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, and medication administration required
- Ventilator management and tracheostomy care/management experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonatal, infant, and pediatric patients including those with respiratory, cardiac, and feeding complications
- Perform trach and ventilator management as part of daily patient care responsibilities
- Support skills in blood product administration, TPN/lipids management, and anti-seizure medication administration are preferred
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and manage seizure disorders as needed
- Travelers are expected to float within their specialty and sister units with priority given to floating
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months following a prior assignment
- Former staff members must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
