Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Long-Term Care travel assignment at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly patient population.
Details
- Post-acute care setting within a 70-bed nursing home (majority private rooms) attached to a hospital
- Long-Term Care/SNF unit serving a patient population with dementia, frailty, and rehabilitation needs
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:20
- 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
- No on-call or standby requirements
- Floating may be required
- EMR system is ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
- IV therapy is performed on this unit
Requirements
- Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Experience working with elderly patients required
- Clinical skills required include IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, medication administration, and patient assessments
- 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years of relevant experience
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care
- Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, and housekeeping
- Respiratory therapy is available on-site 24/7, and an on-site pharmacy with a medication dispensing system is available
- Physician coverage is available after hours
- Orientation length varies based on individual skills
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable; attire must be clean and professional
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date, and hospital approval is required
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
