Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Long-Term Care travel assignment at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly patient population.

Details

• Post-acute care setting within a 70-bed nursing home (majority private rooms) attached to a hospital
• Long-Term Care/SNF unit serving a patient population with dementia, frailty, and rehabilitation needs
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:20
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating may be required
• EMR system is ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• IV therapy is performed on this unit

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience working with elderly patients required
• Clinical skills required include IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, medication administration, and patient assessments
• 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, and housekeeping
• Respiratory therapy is available on-site 24/7, and an on-site pharmacy with a medication dispensing system is available
• Physician coverage is available after hours
• Orientation length varies based on individual skills
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable; attire must be clean and professional
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
