Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level III Trauma acute care hospital in Kansas, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and an active KS or Compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a Level III Trauma designation
• OR unit with 4 operating suites and 1 GI Endoscopy Room, averaging 10 cases per day
• Common case types include robotic and laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomies, basic orthopedics, gynecology, and podiatry
• Each case is staffed with at least 1 OR tech and 1 first assistant
• RNs are not required to scrub
• Charting is done in Epic
• Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
• Evening and weekend call is required; weeknight call runs 3:00 PM–7:00 AM, weekend call runs 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• Holiday call coverage is required
• Floating outside of the OR is not standard; in cases of extreme need, floating may occur within Zone 4 (SCG, SCD, Bob Wilson Memorial)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; pending certifications not accepted
• Robot and GI endoscopy experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required to verify permanent address
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Scrub color is ceil blue; scrubs are provided by the facility
• Orientation includes a unit-specific competency checkoff with supervised time alongside staff until comfortable; clinicians must be on-site in the state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Travelers assigned to this Kansas facility are expected to float within their assigned zone and are responsible for securing housing that allows them to meet this requirement
