Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with floating requirements and on-call responsibilities.

Details

  • ICU position within a 562-bed Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Primary focus is trauma/burn ICU with medical and cardiac overflow patients
  • Average daily census of 10 patients
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call is required for this position
  • Floating is required — travelers are first to float, with potential movement to other ICUs (Medical, Neuro, Cardiac), IMC, and general floors on modified teams, as well as affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active Illinois (IL) RN license required — pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC, and TNS
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • All required certifications must be active at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • RTO of 5 days or fewer is preferred; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • Scrub color: any solid color
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything. That level of support has really stood out to me. I’m rly happy I chose American Traveler for my first assignment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
