Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0645–1915)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- No on-call requirements
- Cerner used for charting (experience preferred)
- Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, respiratory, post-surgical, and renal cases
- Required procedures and skills include: telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management, use of Rapid Response Teams, post cardiac angiogram/cath/surgery care, sheath removal and TR Band, pre/post hemodialysis management, arterial line and central line management, PICC line management, port access, blood product administration, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, PCA, procedural sedation, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Neurological cases include CVA, craniotomy, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery
- Orthopedic cases include total joint replacements, ortho trauma, and peripheral nerve block catheters
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or stepdown setting
- Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — must be AHA or Red Cross (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- ACLS preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement
- Candidates who have previously worked as a permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the contract; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
- Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
