Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a night shift position at an acute care hospital serving a neonatal-to-geriatric patient population across multiple units including ICU, Open Heart, NICU, and ED.
Details
- Large acute care hospital with a 24/7 respiratory therapy department covering all floors
- Units include a 30-bed ICU, 25-bed Open Heart unit, 25-bed NICU, and a 47-bed ED with 5 trauma bays
- Patient population spans neonates through geriatrics
- Day shift staffs 12–16 therapists; night shift staffs 10–13 therapists
- Procedures include ventilator management, BiPAP management, medicated aerosol treatments, intubation, ABG draws and analysis, CPT, nitric oxide therapy, and COVID patient management
- Open Heart and NICU experience involved in scope of coverage
- Epic EMR experience required; ventilator experience with Servo I, GE, Hamilton, and PB840 required
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and within scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active GA state respiratory therapy license required; license required if applicable
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Hands-on experience with Servo I, GE, Hamilton, and PB840 ventilators required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates must have been away from all facilities in this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
- Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across a broad range of clinical settings including ICU, Open Heart, NICU, and ED
- Scrubs may be any color except all-red or all-navy-blue
- RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No special scheduling requests, shift changes, or alternate shift arrangements are permitted
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
