Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at an acute care hospital in California, requiring Level I trauma experience and prior travel experience across a broad range of surgical specialties.
Details
- Position is in the Operating Room (OR) of a 277-bed acute care hospital
- Surgical specialties include trauma, neuro, vascular, orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, urology, plastics, thoracic, bariatric, ENT, and podiatry
- Experience with advanced procedures such as craniotomy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, Whipple, and VATS is relevant to this role
- Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system experience is preferred
- Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Variable start times of 7:00 and 9:00 may apply within the contract
- On-call is required and distributed equally among all nursing staff approximately every 6 weeks, which may include up to 6–8 on-call shifts per 6-week cycle (including nights, evenings, and weekends)
- Weekend work is required
- Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities within the state is required
- Coverage of up to one night shift during the contract may be required as needed
- Free parking is available
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of OR experience required (5 years preferred)
- Level I trauma experience required
- Experience with trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical cases required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in a broad range of OR skills including vascular procedures, neurological surgeries, orthopedic/spine cases, general surgery, and trauma response
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are accepted; note that the travel pay rate may differ for local candidates
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the standard travel pay rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning to this facility as a traveler, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Travelers who have previously worked at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem) should be prepared to disclose the location and dates of that employment
- Travelers are expected to cover 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
- OR/PACU scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration; minimal RTO is preferred
