Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department travel contract at an Ohio hospital, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience with Epic proficiency and combined Adult/Peds background.

Details

• Emergency Department (ED) setting with 13 beds and an average daily census of 56 visits per day
• All-ages patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Common diagnoses include CVA, COPD, MI, trauma, CHF, abdominal pain, chest pain, mental health, dehydration, and orthopedic injuries
• Designated Primary Stroke Center
• Staffing ratio of 1:4 across all shifts
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Friday, Saturday, and one weekday night per week
• Every other weekend required at minimum; additional weekends may be scheduled based on census or need
• Floating to a nearby community hospital ED may be required as needed
• Equipment includes bedside ultrasound IV, in-room cardiac monitors with bedside EKG, IV pumps, and EMR interoperability
• Medication system: Pyxis
• EMR: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of ED nursing experience required
• Combined Adult and Pediatric ED experience required
• Prior patient ratio experience of 1:3 required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Required clinical skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, CVA/neuro-trauma care, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, pediatric head injury, pediatric near-drowning, pediatric spinal cord injury, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, ventilated patient management, gunshot wound care, isolation precautions, and triage
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
