Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of PCU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a teaching hospital
• Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Weekday schedule with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required (4 years required if MS/Tele background)
• Skilled in IV starts, IV therapy, and phlebotomy
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Skilled in peripheral line care and management
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within the Progressive Care Unit setting
• Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac dysrhythmia management as part of daily responsibilities
• Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after signing contract, with in-state travel or a mailed fingerprinting packet required depending on candidate location
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
