Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and CRRT proficiency, working 12-hour night shifts at an acute care hospital in West Virginia.
Details
- 28-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients, as well as ECMO, LVAD, and heart transplant cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 depending on patient acuity
- RNs are required to titrate all critical care drips, including inotropes and sedation
- Telemetry is present on the unit; RNs must be able to recognize ECG changes to notify providers — tele techs provide rhythm change alerts
- RT is available in the ICU 24/7, with ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP on unit
- Intensivists and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are available in-house 24/7
- Unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 2 house supervisors, and 1–3 CNAs
- Charting is done in Epic
- 12-hour night shifts; weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Minimum weekend requirement includes 3 'S' days regardless of shift, plus 1 Friday and 1 Monday (weekenders are exempt from the Monday requirement)
- No on-call or standby requirement
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required, specifically with cardiac, vascular, thoracic, ECMO, LVAD, and transplant patient populations
- CRRT experience required
- Ability to titrate critical care drips including inotropes and sedation
- Ability to recognize ECG/rhythm changes
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 supervisor/peer references required (at least 1 supervisor reference; if perm employment within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility)
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Royal blue scrubs required
- 1-week unit-specific orientation provided
- Candidates are expected to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation
- Floating may be required to other ICU or stepdown units within the hospital
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before re-applying
- All candidates interview directly with a unit manager
