Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a children's hospital in Orange County, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and a CA RN license.
Details
- Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) at a children's hospital setting
- Highly variable patient population with a large proportion of surgical patients, many of whom are infants
- Patient acuity varies widely across the unit
- Specialized procedures and equipment include ECMO (with dedicated technicians managing pumps), Nitric Oxide, pacemakers, chest tubes, invasive monitors, bedside chest tube placement, and cardioversions
- Documentation system: Cerner
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Self-scheduling model
- 4 weekend shifts per month required
- Some holiday shifts required, shared with regular staff
- Floating required to PICU or NICU (first priority); may also float to Pediatric Med/Surg Oncology floor — no floating to ED or Mental Health
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of CVPICU or relevant pediatric critical care nursing experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a complex pediatric cardiovascular patient population, including post-surgical and infant patients
- First-time travelers may be considered with a strong 2-year experience background
- RTO (time off requests) limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Contract length is 13 weeks minimum; candidates open to a longer assignment are encouraged to indicate their interest
