Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and Level II trauma center experience.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit within a hospital system spanning multiple campus locations
- Patient population includes COPD, stroke, total joint replacement, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal cases
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Weekend shifts required to average one per week over the course of the contract
- No scheduled on-call, but may be placed on standby
- Float required to all North Campus locations including Redmond, Prineville, and Madras
- May float to any med/surg unit within the system, work as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, or care for boarding med/surg patients in the ED
- Facility locations include a Level 2 trauma center, a Level 4 trauma center, and two critical access hospitals
Requirements
- Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Travel experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience may be considered as first-time travelers
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Skills in wound care, wound vac management, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team utilization
- Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Skills in gastrointestinal care including colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care
- Skills in renal/genitourinary care including continuous bladder irrigation and hemodialysis management
- Skills in neurological care including CVA management and substance withdrawal care
- Proof of permanent address required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care as a primary RN in the Med/Surg department or as a 1:1 observer in other clinical departments
- Care for a wide range of medical and surgical cases including orthopedic, cardiovascular, oncology, and neurological patients
- Complete facility orientation modules, which are renewed annually
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
- RTO requests are limited to 7 days
- First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have 3-5 years of experience
- Candidates who cancel an assignment with fewer than 14 days' notice will be designated as Do Not Return within the system
