Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week night shift contract at a critical access hospital in Oregon, covering all inpatient departments including FBC, ER, MS, and CCU.
Details
- Acute care critical access hospital setting covering all inpatient departments, including Family Birthing Center (FBC), ER, Medical/Surgical (MS), and CCU
- Patient population includes all ages — adults, pediatrics, and neonates; the FBC delivers approximately 35 babies per month
- Primary procedures include mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, bubble CPAP on newborns, breathing treatments, EKGs, and ABG draws; intubation assist only
- Equipment includes Dräger ventilators, Philips V60 for BiPAP, ResMed for CPAP, and Vapotherm for high flow
- CCU is a 5-bed unit; vent days have increased to approximately 5–7 per month
- MEDITECH EMR
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Weekend and holiday coverage required on a variable basis to fill scheduling gaps
- No on-call or floating requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience required
- RRT credential via NBRC required; CRT acceptable if all other requirements are met
- Active Oregon RRT license required (license required if applicable)
- Current, active certifications required — no pending certifications accepted: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS
- Experience with bubble CPAP, ABG draws, and ventilator/BiPAP/CPAP management required
- Must be able to work independently, as the majority of shifts are staffed by a single RT
- Ability to walk extensively during a shift (estimated 6–8 miles) and move quickly in response to patient needs
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage a variable patient workload
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include ventilator and respiratory equipment management, breathing treatments, EKGs, ABG draws, bubble CPAP on newborns, and assisting with intubations
- RT is responsible for daily shift equipment checks and billing documentation for all procedures performed during the shift
- Small RT department with five staff members total; travelers are expected to function with a high degree of independence
- Orientation consists of 3–6 shifts
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or per diem) by any CommonSpirit or CHI/Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
