Description
American Traveler is hiring a Home Health Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of experience to serve a geriatric patient population across a multi-county coverage area in Georgia.
Details
- Home health care setting serving a geriatric patient population
- Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00–17:30), Monday–Friday with no weekend requirements
- Caseload of approximately 6 visits per day with an average daily census of 115; full-time productivity is approximately 25 units per week
- Coverage area includes Washington, Johnson, Jefferson, and Emanuel counties, with occasional support in Burke, Screven, Bulloch, and Jenkins counties
- Average daily mileage is 50–100 miles; mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate and tracked through HCHB
- HCHB (HomeCare HomeBase) is the charting system in use prior to 10/1/2026; Epic will be implemented after 10/1/2026
- Floating within facility and scope of practice may be required as needed
Requirements
- Active OT license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of home health OT experience
- Current BLS certification required
- HCHB experience required for the initial portion of the assignment; Epic experience required after 10/1/2026
- Proficiency in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and adaptive equipment
- GA OT license or compact equivalent must be active at time of consideration
- Copies of certifications listed in the position description required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former permanent, per diem, or FCSS employees must have been away from all system facilities for at least 1 full year before being considered as a traveler
- Travelers who previously canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside of the system before reapplying
- All RTO must be finalized prior to offer; no RTO or schedule changes can be requested post-offer or after starting on site
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- If 1 or 2 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work those holidays with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work 2 of them and one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Preferred skills include community re-entry, home assessment, wheelchair evaluation and positioning, cognitive assessment, OASIS documentation, and plan of care development
- Candidates without HCHB experience will be required to complete an online HCHB course prior to starting; the course fee must be paid upfront by the traveler
- Any color scrubs are acceptable
- No alternate shift or schedule requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
- All compliance documents must be submitted by the Tuesday prior to the start date; failure to comply on time may result in a 2-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
