Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift Med/Surg travel position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience and an AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Position is located on a 30-bed Med/Surg unit (4 West) within a large, accredited hospital setting
- Patient population includes general med/surg and post-operative surgery patients
- Patient ratio is 6:1
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend is required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required based on house staffing needs
- EMR system is Cerner
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — no hits on license accepted
- Current AHA-issued BLS and NIHSS certifications required (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience required
- Experience with orthopedic and post-operative patient care required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to med/surg and post-operative patients on a busy inpatient unit
- Strong time management skills and a compassionate, team-oriented approach are highly valued
- Navy scrubs are required
- Artificial nails (fake, gel, dip) and long nails are not permitted; earbuds/earphones are also prohibited
- All AHA certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of the start date; proof of enrollment in a renewal class may be accepted
- The facility is a Joint Commission-accredited, 595-bed comprehensive healthcare facility recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, bariatric surgery, rehabilitation, and more
