Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, IABP and CRRT skills, and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a 12-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
- Patient population includes those with AMI, CAD, and PVD
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, Cardene, and others
- RT services (ventilators, BiPap, CPAP, Vapotherm, Hi-Flow) are available and shared across the department
- In-room monitoring via Nihon Kohden; RNs read their own telemetry strips (no monitor techs)
- Charting is done in Cerner
- 12-hour night shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts per pay period (this may fall on Friday or Saturday nights depending on unit needs)
- On-call/standby requirement: up to 3 shifts per 12 weeks
- Floating required as needed to ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, and Telemetry units across both campuses
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery (OHS) patients coming from the OR is required
- Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license is used to verify)
Additional Information
- Intensivists are in house; charge nurse and house supervisor coverage available 24/7
- No nurse aides on this unit
- Impella experience is desired but not required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
- A pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on the second attempt will be ineligible for CommonSpirit facilities in AZ and Sacramento, CA for 6 months
- Candidates who were directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Holiday coverage is required
- RTO requests of less than 7 days and no holiday requests are required for auto-offer consideration
- Travel duos are accepted, but each clinician must have their own vehicle and will not share the same schedule
