Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Epic proficiency and charge RN experience, working nights on a 3x12 schedule.
Details
- Hospital Med/Surg unit setting with 32 rooms and an average daily census of 29 patients
- Adult to geriatric patient population with a broad range of Med/Surg diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Clinical skills utilized include isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, nasal cannula, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), chest tubes, IV starts, PICC line management, blood product administration, and feeding tube care and management
- Telemetry/remote monitoring and use of rapid response/code teams may be required
- Charting via Epic (required) and Pyxis; SBAR communication standard
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Charge RN experience requested
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, blood product administration, HFNC, chest tubes, feeding tube management, and wound care/wound vac
- Copies of all required certifications needed for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; all RTO must be finalized prior to offer — no RTO or schedule changes permitted after offer or upon arrival
- RTO blackout period: Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work 2, with 1 holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Candidates who have previously worked at or applied to any Piedmont facility must have been away from all Piedmont locations for a full year before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
- No alternate shift or schedule requests are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
