Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Des Moines, IA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience and active TNCC certification.
Details
- Works in an 18-bed Emergency Department treating a mixed patient population including adults, pediatrics, and behavioral health patients
- Patient ratio is 4:1
- Experience with drips including sedation and vasoactive agents is required
- Telemetry strip reading, measuring, and interpretation is required
- Epic EMR is used (experience preferred)
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week
- Every 4th weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital
- Holiday rotation required, including coverage for summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
Requirements
- Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS (AHA or ARC), PALS (AHA), and TNCC
- Minimum of 36 months of Emergency Department/ER experience required
- Experience caring for both pediatric and adult patients required
- Experience with drips including sedation and vasoactive agents required
- Experience reading, measuring, and interpreting telemetry strips required
- Experience with behavioral health patients highly preferred
- Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Active TNCC certificate required for consideration
- One supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 2 years preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- Navy blue solid scrubs required
- First-time travelers are accepted with the required 36 months of ED experience
- Candidates who have been employed by the facility as an FTE or PRN (including float pool) within the past 12 months are not eligible, regardless of which campus they worked at
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a local radius rule applies
