Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab position in Portland, ME, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology experience and a Maine or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Located in Portland, ME within the Interventional Services unit of a 70-bed facility with 5 bays and 1 procedure room
  • Patient population includes inpatient, outpatient, and ED patients (details discussed during interview)
  • Procedures include cardiac catheterizations, angiograms, and IR cases such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, and nephrostomy tubes
  • Responsibilities include administration of sedation and recovery of sedation patients, as well as arterial access recovery
  • Charting via Cerner; Pyxis used for medication management
  • Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 40 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required once per month
  • On-call required one night per week (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM) and on rotating weekends
  • No floating required
  • Holiday coverage expectations discussed during interview

Requirements

  • Active RN license — Maine or Compact license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology setting
  • Experience with cardiac catheterization, angiograms, and IR procedures (paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrostomy tubes)
  • Experience administering sedation and recovering sedation patients
  • Arterial access recovery experience required
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Full SSN required for consideration
  • Valid Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge Nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
  • Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
  • Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions only are accepted and subject to facility review (minimum 2-week review period)
  • Permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible
  • Must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Manager interviews are required as part of the hiring process
  • Orientation length is dependent on the candidate's experience level
  • Supervised by an RN supervisor on the floor
  • Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking is available on site
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is subject to manager approval
  • Candidates living more than 100 miles north of the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis with individual approval
