Description
American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN with a WI or compact license and at least 4 years of critical care experience for a night-shift Neurology ICU role at a Level III trauma and comprehensive stroke center.
Details
- Level III Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center with 933 beds
- 27-bed Neurology ICU with an average daily census of 25 patients
- Cares for neurocritical patients including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, and brain mass resections/biopsies
- Occasional overflow of general medical ICU and respiratory patients
- Patient ratios of 1:1-2, or 1:3 for mixed acuity assignments
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may be required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, CVICU), Med-Surg, Sitter duties, or PACU Surge
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors, and Medtronic EVD equipment
Requirements
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 4 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with vents, trachs, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, and central line blood draws required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- CVVH/CRRT and EVD experience preferred
- Candidate's DOB, last 4 digits of SSN, and middle name/initial required for consideration
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
Additional Information
- Provide direct neurocritical care to complex neurological ICU patients
- Supported by CNAs (1:8-10 ratio), Charge RN, Critical Care NPs, Intensivists, Hospitalists, Respiratory Therapy, and Phlebotomy staff
- Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and one shift of unit-specific orientation
- Holiday coverage required on a rotating every-other-holiday basis
- RTO of up to 7 days can be pre-approved during the interview process
- Scrubs must be a solid color with no graphics, logos, or designs
- Unit known for strong teamwork and evidence-based nursing practices
- Staff, including travelers, are subject to a fatigue policy limiting work to 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
- Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
